Is digitization different from scanning?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, yes and no.

Yes, in the sense, that every document to be digitized needs to be digitally imaged. For obtaining the digital image, the whole world uses scanners and cameras.

However, the digitization is not just imaging. You can’t search text in images or .jpg files. Scanned images need further processing for making the digital documents text searchable. Moreover, the raw scanned documents often need cosmetic enhancing especially if the docs are old, and the papers have gone brown due to acidification over the years.

Digitization for Corporate offices and Libraries have different aspects and their own specific requirements.
